You’ll recognize  English actress Miriam Margoyles as soon as you see her. You may remember her from Black Adder, Doc Martin, Romeo and Juliet. She was even in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. You’ll love her in this one woman show where she brings to life 23 of Dickens’ most affecting and colourful female (and male) characters. She presents her powerful and at times hilarious expose of Dickens, his work and the real life women who found themselves immortalized in his books.

Lady Elliott Island Magic.  20 March . 3 days

Door to door pick ups. Travel to Hervey Bay for our flight to beautiful Lady Elliot Island—one of only 3 Island resorts on the Great Barrier Reef and the only resort with direct flight access to its island airstrip.  While on the Island, you can tour the reef with a glass bottom boat tour, learn to snorkel, take a guided reef walk or stroll to a deserted beach. With exceptionally clear water all year round, you may encounter turtles, dolphins and a large variety of coral, fish and giant manta rays.  When the tide is low you can venture all the way through the lagoon from the beach to the reef edge. You’ll see a multitude of marine life as our experienced guide introduces you to the complexities of the reef eco-system.  Feel safe if you’re learning to snorkel as the lagoon is an ideal safe haven for beginners. All meals on the island. Back to Hervey Bay for an overnight then a visit to the fabulous markets in Maryborough.  Great trip

 

Easter in Kangaroo Island & Adelaide.

After your flight to Adelaide on Thursday, we’ll visit the Pandas at Adelaide Zoo and overnight Adelaide. The Barossa Valley will be our destination for Good Friday and then Saturday we’ll head to stunning Kangaroo Island. The scenery is spectacular and it’s one of Australia’s finest nature destinations.  Enjoy rugged landscapes and unspoilt beauty and  amazing wildlife. We’ll visit some of island’s best attractions such as Seal Bay where you’ll get the chance to get up close and personal with a breeding colony of rare Australian Sealions. We’ll also visit Flinders Chase National Park  including the famous Remarkable Rocks and stunning Admiral’s Arch   where we can view playful fur seals. We’ll also visit the North Coast  and its many idyllic beaches. After we leave Kangaroo Island we head to Mt Gambier and visit the stunning Blue Lake, Cave Garden and Engelbrecht Cave. Then on to Warnambool, the Great Ocean Road and overnight in Apollo Bay before flying home from Melbourne. What a trip! And what a truly scenic way to spend Easter.

 

Falling of the Leaf Festival—Tumut. 
April 25th. 6 days.  $1799.  Single $220

Autumn in Tumut offers one of the most spectacular displays of colour to be found anywhere in New South Wales. The festival was born in the 50’s when a local headmaster suggested a festival to celebrate the arrival of autumn and the falling leaves. We’ll travel by bus to Tumut via Moree. We’ll also overnight in  Cowra where we’ll visit the beautiful Japanese Gardens and the Info Centre to experience the famous Breakout with one of the locals. You’ll love the waterfalls in Adelong And the street parade in Tumut. Saturday is Gala Day at the Festival and you’ll find over 100 stalls amidst the beauty of the autumn shrouded Bila Park. There’s something for everyone—original artworks, furniture, hand made toys, homewares, skincare and jewelry.  After the street parade we’ll have Afternoon tea at the Pioneer Women’s Cottage at Tumbarumba. On our drive to Canberra, we’ll enjoy a Yarrangobilly Caves Tour. And if time permits, we’ll visit Cabramurra—highest town in Australia.  We’ll drive through Cooma on our way to Canberra where we’ll overnight before our flight home.

 

Central Qld. Sandstone Belt—Land of Cliffs & Plains. 

5 days . Late May/early June.

This is a tour that will interest bushwalkers but is NOT limited to bushwalkers. We’ll drive through Kilcoy, Yarraman and Chinchilla on our way to Injune where  we’ll overnight. Next morning we’ll visit  Carnarvon Gorge. If you’ve been before, you can try something different as there are  4 smaller walks avail designed for those not so serious walkers. You can saunter to the Baloon Cave—a short 500metre stroll or do the longer walk to the Moss Garden. Overnight Springsure tonight before our adventure continues.  We’ll travel past Fairburn Dam on our way to Emerald then on to Blackwater where we’ll visit the International Coal Centre before continuing on to  Blackdown Tablelands National Park. There are a variety of walks available here from 100m to the Horseshoe Lookout OR 2.5 km Goon Goon Dina walk past old cattle yard ruins to aboriginal art sites. Then we make our way through Biloela to Cania Gorge, our home for  2 nights  at the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat. Full day Cania Gorge National Park with a variety of walks available.  Home via Gayndah for some very fresh fruit at the  Big Orange.
